The 7.62x39 was designed for defending Russia. Does that mean you can’t use it for hunting? Not at all. It is quite possible that the deer and hogs in your neck of the woods pose some kind of threat to Russia, which makes all of them viable candidates for getting shot with Remington Core-Lokt 7.62x39.

This isn’t Russian-made ammunition, of course. Remington’s Arkansas-made ammo features steel-free nonmagnetic projectiles, noncorrosive Boxer primers, and virgin brass cases that you’ll want to save for handloading purposes.

This round isn’t outfitted with the usual full metal jacket, either. It is the 125 grain Core-Lokt pointed soft point, which features a tapered copper jacket and exposed lead core that work hand in hand to deliver up to double-diameter terminal expansion. The Core-Lokt’s jacket is mechanically embedded into its core to prevent the two components from detaching from one another. That helps the bullet penetrate more deeply, which spells even worse news for deer and hogs.
