The most interesting things to say about this 7.62x54r ammunition by Prvi Partizan are what it is not.

For starters, this is specifically not 7.62x51 ammunition, and it will not work in a 308 Win rifle. The 7.62x54r is a cartridge of Russian origin, and it’s most commonly purchased for the Mosin–Nagant rifle (affectionately known as the “nugget”). Sorry if you already know all this, but you don’t want a rookie to order the wrong kind of ammo for his gun, either!

This ammunition is not made in Russia. Prvi Partizan is a Serbian company, and unlike a Russian manufacturer they do not load magnetic projectiles. This round’s 182 grain full metal jacket bullet has a lead core and a copper alloy jacket. It won’t attract a magnet, but a ball cartridge’s FMJ will not expand when it strikes game or a threat, either.

This ammunition is not Boxer-primed. If you don’t know the difference between Boxer and Berdan primers, you’re still safe to go ahead firing this non-corrosive ammunition. But if you care about centerfire primers because you handload, just take care that this round’s case has two flash holes instead of the usual one.
