This blank round obviously has no bullet to speak of, so its brass shell casing extends to fill the space that a bullet would have otherwise occupied. This enables it to feed just as reliably as a hot load, and doesn’t hamper extraction in the process. The round’s tip is painted red as an additional reminder that it’s not the one you’d want to load while you’re trying to defend (or expand) Russia’s western border.
