The 7mm-08 Remington was designed in 1980 based indirectly off of the 308. In fact, Remington made this round pretty much by standardizing and attaching their name to the wildcat 7mm/308 round from 1958. With incredible range and power, the 7mm-08 Remington is fantastic for all kinds of long range hunting, match shooting, and range training, making it just the versatile round you need.
Federal has been around since 1922, and although it is not the oldest ammunition manufacturer in America, it is still one of the most popular. All of Federal's ammo is loaded using premium components in the USA.

Review by PA Woods Hunter
I actually used the 140gr because I could not find any 120gr, however believe the terminal performance on a whitetail would be the same. Ammo shot consistent groups and more importantly performed flawlessly in the field. I have harvested two deer to date with this. A doe shot at 30 yds quartering away and a buck shot at about 80yds almost broadside, with both shots being clean thru. The telling performance was on the buck. The shot hit the front of the entering side kidney and rear 3rd of the exiting side lung. It was walking when shot and continued trotting about 30 yds and dropped in its tracks. Front 1/2 of the kidney and rear of the lung were completely destroyed and exit hole was 2x bullet diameter. Doe was also walking and shifted track, bullet did not strike any bone, entered behind rib cage, and expansion was still good with 2x bullet diameter exit hole just before the opposite side front leg.
