A normal target bullet is made of two solid pieces of metal. This round’s bullet is also made of solid pieces of metal, but there are thousands of them. That’s because a frangible bullet is made of compressed metal powders: primarily copper, with some other nontoxic metals thrown in. When the bullet disintegrates on impact, the dust and fragments it reduces itself to are too light to present a very significant risk of ricocheting back at the shooting line.
This is not overpressure ammo. Its muzzle velocity is only so high because its bullet is so light. For context, a normal 115gr/1,190 fps MV 9mm round’s power factor equals 136.85. This 100gr/1,300 fps MV round’s power factor is actually lower at 130.00. These rounds are loaded in Missouri with new and reusable brass shells, too!
