Sellier & Bellot's 9mm Soft Point (SP) ammo is the perfect answer to certain indoor range requirements that do not want fully jacketed ammo to hit their backstops. S&B's 9mm SP ammo has a lead core that is bare (exposed) in the front of the projectile. When hitting the target, it mushrooms distributing its kinetic energy fast as well as making it rebound less than jacketed ammo.

Q: Could you please consider testing this ammunition in ballistic gelatin? Due to certain issues, the usual hollow point bullets are not an option for everyone and I have not found any reliable tests done with this ammunition.

A: I appreciate the input! I've sent a note to our ballistics testing team to please add this ammo to their cue. I'm uncertain when they plan to make a new batch of ballistic gel, but we certainly owe it to our customers who live in places like New Jersey to test 9mm SP ammo out.

Q: Any idea on how this performs in ballistics gel?

A: Unfortunately we have not yet tested this round in gel. As it is a round nose design it will be more apt to flatten and distort rather than expand and the jacket cause a permanent wound. I would not recommend this style round for defensive purposes. It will however be ideal for shooting steel pistol targets at shorter ranges though. As well as be indoor range safe.
