Ballistic gelatin testing is one way to get an idea of how a self-defense load might perform in a real world self-defense situation. So we fired five rounds of Sig Sauer 124 gr V-Crown from a Smith & Wesson M&P9C from a distance of 10 feet into a block of synthetic ballistic gel with a barrier of four layers of fabric simulating heavy clothing. We then gathered information on the expansion and penetration characteristics of this load. That data is represented in the chart below.
How this load compares to other 9mm Luger (9x19) loads from our tests in regards to bullet expansion and penetration can be found in the diagrams at the bottom of the page.
We also took photos of each bullet that was recovered from the gelatin, seen in the photo slider below. The high speed video shows this round impacting the ballistic gelatin at 10,000 frames per second.

Great Affordable Self Defense Ammo
This ammo performs well in my Glock 19. I looked at the reviews of this ammo, and liked what I saw so I decided to give it a shot. I stuck with this ammo because of its great price. The price enabled me to buy alot of it to test its reliability in my gun. I know this will work for me with my set up, and I like the ballistics
Jammed in My Sig 239
Very accurate at 25 yards, but five jams (FTFs) in 20 rounds. I have never had a jam with comparable Speer Gold Dots or PMC. These hollow points have a little wider and sharper mouth than others, and they tend to hang on the edge of the feed ramp. Obviously work well for others in other guns. It just shows the importance of making sure your carry round runs well in your particular gun.
Self defense for sure
I buy this ammo for self defense .... Hoping to never have to use it. I fired 20 rounds thru my P320 and P226 .... Flawless ....
Lucky Gunner ... 5 stars for sure. Always in stock what I need when I need it with fast shipping to boot. What more could be asked for.
I test fired 20 rounds in my Sig P938 and my Sig Sp2022 9mm, never had an issue it's ammo that I can depend on.
I own the Sig Sp2022 9mm, Sig P938 9mm and the Sig P226 40 cal.
It's another quality product from Sig.
Jam o matics
I have found these rounds to typically jam and sometimes deform on many of my 9mm pistols to include a LC9, all M&P pistols, and a CZ 75 D Compact and oddly enough two Sig 226s, they did function well in my Beretta 92 and PX4 however I'll never buy them again anyway.
