Do you want Speer’s newest generation of Gold Dot series 9mm ammunition? Then say hello to G2. Introduced in 2016 and made available to the public three years later, it’s some of the highest-tech personal defense ammo on the market.
This round’s 135 grain bullet has a bonded jacket. It’s not glued, soldered, or crimped. It’s fused – the product of bathing a high-density, pressure-formed lead core in electrified chemicals. Its molecularly bonded jacket makes the Gold Dot bullet tough as a nut, and therefore able to pass through barriers without losing weight and momentum.
The G2 improves on the classic Gold Dot JHP design with the addition of elastomer. The supple black disk filling the JHP’s nose cavity serves two functions:
1. Preventing debris from obstructing said cavity in the name of preserving capacity for expansion; and
2. Accelerating said expansion, by compressing and forcing its way into the core’s underlying fissures during penetration through flesh.
Gold Dot G2 is peak quality. Speer makes every component in their Idaho factory – including precision-formed primers and smooth-cycling nickel-plated brass cases – and checks each round three times over to assure total uniformity.
