Sellier & Bellot produces ammunition in the Czech Republic that's used all over the world for hunting, for competition, law enforcement and military applications. S&B is owned by the Brazilian parent company CBC, who also owns Magtech, another great ammo manufacturer. For this review, we shot a couple of boxes of S&B in .40 Smith & Wesson with a 180 grain bullet.
Like all S&B ammo, this batch came with sealed primers, which is evident in the red coloring. You always want to keep your ammo stored in a cool dry place, but in the event it is exposed to some kind of moisture, those sealed primers help to keep the ammo protected. The shell casing is made from reloadable brass, and the bullet is a lead core with a copper full metal jacket.
We tried a tin shot group from the bench at 15 yards using a Springfield XDM and got great accuracy results. I think our sights might have been a little off, but you can see we've got a nice consistent pattern. Reliability and function was good as well with none of our test guns having any problems feeding the S&B ammo. Overall, there were no real surprises. S&B makes pretty run-of-the-mill brass case ammo with the added benefit of a little extra protection from the sealed primer. So if you want some accurate and reliable training and range ammunition, then S&B is a good bet.

Not sure if it was the ammo or the gun
I recently purchased a Ruger SR 40 C. At first I thought it was the ammunition my gun kept jamming. I had to drop the magazine and clear the chamber after every 10 or 15 rounds. Once I got through 500 rounds I clean my gun for the first time that I went back to the range and 300 rounds later not one jam! It seems that my gun needed to be oiled prior to being shot out of the box.
Purchased 1,000 rounds of Sellier & Bellot 40 S & W so far I've put 500 through my Glock 22 & my Smith & Wesson sd40ve, not one FTE or FTF or malfunction of any kind. Simply awesome and Lucky Gunner just as awesome as always on pricing and delivery. Always my choice for ammo.
No problems Nice groups
The S&B .40 S&W is great for the range. Have shot a couple hundred rounds through my Sig P320 with no problems. Had really nice groupings at both 30 and 40 feet. Will definitely be buying more of this for the range.
40 cal Sellier and Bellot
The shipping was slightly delay by the ice storms on th east coast. Angela personally send an email to inform me of the delay. Very nice. Bullets arrive well packaged. 180 grain at a good price. Sellier and Bellot have been making ammo for years. I just shot some 308 rounds from 1979 just a day ago and no misfires. 40 cal rounds no misfires. Good ammo and good place to purchase ammo. Will buy in future again
Excellent range ammo at a great price
I have purchased 2000 rounds of Sellier & Bellot's 180 gr FMJ ammo from Lucky Gunner and used about 500 rounds at the range. No malfunctions in my Glock 35 or Glock 22 so far and I don't expect I will have any issues with this ammo. It shoots straight and sure and combined with super fast shipping from Lucky Gunner I am a very satisfied customer.
I have found my "First-Choice" ammo supplier
This was my first purchase from Lucky Gunner and my first purchase of Sellier & Bellot, and I can't think of any reason I won't buy again and again from LG or buy thousands more rounds of S&B. Two days after placing my order, 50 lbs of ammo hit my doorstep, including FMJ .40 caliber Sellier and Bellot, which I had never shot. The website videos and reviews are very helpful and gave me the confidence to buy 1000 rounds sight unseen. It has taken me a month to get around to shooting it, but I just ran 150 rounds through my Glock 23 (4) and didn't have a single hiccup. This was also very accurate ammo. I will be buying more at Lucky Gunner!
Great Ammo, Decently clean and no FTE/FTF
Bought 1000 rounds, shot 400 so far - no FTE/FTF at all. Shot out of a Glock22 and Kel-Tec Sub2000. Great ammo to practice with and accurate.
Great customer service as always from LG.
Good stuff - excellent service from LuckyGunner
Ammo shoots great out of my Glock (no surprise) and is a great value.
Super fast ship from Luckygunner once working out the issues of shipping to Illinois, which they were great dealing with.
cheap for a reason
So I bought this ammo because it was cheap and had great reviews. I fired 250 rounds so far and there was not one misfire but I had a jam in my Beretta PX4 Storm at least once and up to 3 times per 10 round magazine. It jams even when I just cock through the magazine. They don't fully load into the breach. I looked up the issue on forums and even lubed my gun more heavily in case it was running a little dry. I had the same issue after and not one issue with Federal ammo I bought in the same grain. I ran Federal through it after this and not one issue. I had fired just as many Federal rounds previously without one issue. I bought this ammo for target practice and in the rare case I ever needed to depend on my gun for defense, I would definitely not want to be running this ammo. Perhaps this is only an issue with the Storm but like I said, I had no issue with other ammo.
Good Ammo; Will Get More When On Sale
This ammo feeds and shoots clean in my G23 and G27. I find it more accurate than I am. Not a dud round yet, nor have I seen any issues with feed or ejection. I consider this top FMJ ammo, and would not hesitate to shoot more.
Also appreciate the tighter boxes. Small things like that make storage that much easier.
a very accurate round, no stove pipes, no jams.
This was a very good accurate round. I had no problems shooting it through my Glock Gen4 22. I fired several mags as fast as possible and no issues. I also tested the accuracy at various yard range I am impressed with this round.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AMMO
You can't go wrong with Sellier & Bellot it shoots very clean and every time I pulled the trigger. If you are looking at these reviews you can see that this ammo is highly rated and the price that Lucky Gunner sells it for is great. I will buy it again.
Thanks Lucky Gunner for the quality Ammo and your faster than fast shipping.
Terrific ammo... makes me a better shot!
Because of the great value of Sellier & Bellot ammunition it allows me to spend much more time at the range. More practice = better marksmanship. I also like the fact that it comes in smaller boxes - no wasted space! More than 3 thousand rounds have been run through my Sig without any difficulty, at least none that I can attribute to the ammo or the gun.
I will be watching for more bargains like this in the future and load up when they're available. LuckyGunner is my first stop when I'm ordering ammo!
Shot a couple hundred rounds flawlessly through my HK, and it seemed as accurate as any other I have shot. I love that Sellier and Bellot's boxes are compact; they don't use the same huge box for every caliber. Good-priced, clean ammo!
Great ammo when on sale
I order a lot of reloaded/re-manufactured ammo, but I like to have factory ammo to. S&B ammo works great for me and it's not as dirty as some other brands at this price. S&B in multiple cals, all worked flawless. I would prefer to only buy this on sale.
Quality - we shot off all 1000 rounds in a training course, not one problem
Performance- appeared to be consistent and reliable, target misses were not the ammo's fault!
Value-got it on sale, I was happy!
had it direct shipped to motel near training site, arrive on time, no problems
