Works Well With Some Quirks
Review by Jacob
I normally shoot Wolf Gold 223 out of my AR but bought this bulk pack because of a Federal rebate.
Compared to the Gold, this stuff shoots about 200 FPS slower (measured by chronograph, not what the manufacturers say), which is fine for me since this is a target shooting load, but should be noted nonetheless. Also, this stuff produced A LOT of muzzle flash. The Wolf Gold usually produces almost none out of my A2 flash hider but the Federal 223 was lighting up the place so much the range officer actually mentioned it on my way out. One last thing of note is that cleaning the bore out afterwards was a lot trickier than usual. For whatever reason, pushing cleaning patches through was virtually impossible with a jag, so I had to use a loop one instead, which I've never had to do before. I also noted a fair amount of blue residue on the patches after coming out, most likely from copper residue. Again, this is something I haven't seen much before with a variety of ammo.
Other than that, I fired 200 rounds without a single problem and it was accurate enough for my purposes shooting off hand. For the money, it works well enough.
Thank you Lucky Gunner for a pleasant transaction as usual.

I went through a 1000 round case with no failures. Shoots clean and accurate at 100 yards. As mentioned, the brass is not shiny and has minor cosmetic blemishes but nothing to worry about. Nice ammo to send down range and made in the USA.

I shot these at a carbine class and ran my 16" mid-length anderson hard with no failures. The brass came with some blemishes and tool marks (see pictures provided by lucky gunner). Packaging is minimalist. Accuracy was adequate for the close range tactical scenarios. I could not tell any practical difference between these and the 5.56 IMI I used during the class. I would buy again.
