Hornady piled a whole heap of accuracy enhancing features on this round’s 155 grain bullet. The ELD Match has Hornady’s own Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket and a swaged lead core, which together give the bullet the outstanding balance it needs to remain rotationally stable throughout the 308’s entire effective range. The ELD Match positively slides through the air thanks to its secant ogive profile, which lacks a cannelure that would have made it rougher, as well as its Heat Shield polymer tip and drag-reducing boat tail. When the ELD Match exits a 24” barrel at a rate of 2,850 feet per second, its 0.435 G1 ballistic coefficient assures that it won’t become subsonic and destabilized until it reaches approximately 1,100 yards. Gadzooks!
Some folks mistake the ELD Match for a hunting bullet because of its crimson polymer tip, but a sage like you already knows that the match bullet isn’t designed for terminal expansion. No animal would like to get shot with an ELD Match, but its terminal ballistics just aren’t suitable for hunting. BLACK series ammo is versatile, as it’s designed for reliable functionality in all manners of 308 firearms.
