Don’t expect performance from the open tip match that the bullet can’t deliver. The OTM cannot expand after hitting its target, which is why it’s widely considered inappropriate for deer hunting. But because the OTM’s jacket is so thin and concentric – and because its core is distributed with virtually perfect uniformity – it possesses the balance it needs to fly straight toward its target without any surprises.
This round’s 168 grain OTM flies out of the barrel at a muzzle velocity of 2,650 fps. Its superlative rotational stability and sleek profile grant it a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.450 – hence its ability to home in on a 200-yard zero and subsequently drop -8.9” at 300 yards, -25.8” at 400 yards, and -52.1” at 500 yards (when centered up 1.5”).
Federal further equips snipers for success by loading their Gold Medal CenterStrike ammo with their highest-quality Gold Medal primers and match-grade brass. Keep the latter if you want excellent components for handloading!
