PPU loads their match 308 round with a 155 grain hollow point boat tail bullet. It’s not going to expand if you use it for hunting, so it’s really only suited for coyote and smaller game. This bullet puts all of its chips on accuracy. The opening in its thin, concentric jacket’s tip shows that its core was poured into place and therefore form-fitting, and its boat tail mitigates in-flight drag force.
The sleek HPBT’s rotational stability and aerodynamic profile add up to its 0.457 G1 ballistic coefficient (G7 0.230). That’s why its trajectory is so flat and predictable, and also why this round is suitable for 1,000-yard shooting. It should remain supersonic past 1,100 yards if your rifle has a 24” barrel!
PPU’s nonmagnetic match bullets are precision seated in premium brass cases. The old Eastern European manufacturer also loads non-corrosive Boxer primers, making their Match ammo a good investment for handloaders.
