We’re in kind of a funny spot here. On the one hand, we don’t want to say anything bad about lead. It’s a pretty important metal to our business, all things considered. But on the other hand, it is kind of … well, let’s just say it’s something that rhymes with “shmoxic.”

This cartridge’s bullet is very light at 70 grains. That’s because it doesn’t contain – you guessed it – lead. The lead free indoor range training (IRT) bullet is also a good choice if you’re shooting hard targets, as it poses the same risk of splash-back as a conventional copper-on-lead projectile.

Federal didn’t design a lead-free target bullet and call it a day. They also designed a lead-free primer: the Catalyst, which is just as noncorrosive and long-lasting as any conventional lead styphnate primer. Ignites hot and shoots clean, too! Muzzle velocity is 1,110 fps out of a 3.75” test barrel.
