For target practice with solids this is decent name brand ammo
It is almost impossible to find FMJ any more in 45 caliber that is not 230 grain. That is so old school WW II mentality. A lot of folks want this 185 grain simply for less bite especially with CCW weapons. Sure that is fine but shooting 230 grain anymore is just a waste of lead in my opinion which by the way winds up in the dirt. Most of us that use a 45 for conceaned carry shoot a good man stopper round that is 185 grain or less so why shoot 230? Winchester white box is dirty to shoot and works most of the time so practice with it and be happy somebody still makes a FMJ 45 caliber round that is not 230>
Lighter Recoiling yet awesome factory load
Purchased 500 rounds of this to try out in USPSA and IDPA competitions. Was getting tired of my slow split times using 230 grain Factory rounds. Started using these 185 grain loads and there is definitely a noticeable decrease in felt recoil and my split times improved also.
Shot this through my 5 inch Springfield Armory 1911 using Wilson Combat and Chip McCormick magazines with no feed issues.
The Winchester 185 grain rounds will also be great for target practice with your subcompact and short barreled 1911's. I find that the smaller 1911 prefer lighter-weight bullets in my experience.
