This cartridge is outfitted with a 200 grain jacketed hollow point. It’s lighter than what the 45’s original specs called for, which is why its muzzle velocity is slightly faster at 890 fps. You’ll notice a flatter short-range trajectory which transfers more than adequate kinetic energy to its target for self-defense applications. The nonmagnetic JHP has the tough lead core and copper-alloy jacket it needs to remain mostly intact as it tunnels through soft tissue, as well as a notched rim which promotes more uniform terminal expansion.
Fiocchi also outfits this versatile ammunition with precision drawn and cut brass cases. They’re noncorrosive Boxer-primed, so they are reloadable, and they’re clean-shooting thanks to their Italian manufacturer’s expertly formulated propellant.
