Good stuff. Have used about 800 rounds. never a problem.
This fits to the usual low power / recoil cowboy loads, which is just my game. Recoil is almost zero. Maybe not the ideal defensive round, but I sure as heck wouldn't want to get hit by one of these big suckers. Not as clean as some, but not dirty to the point of fouling your gun. Never had a bad round, and I use these consistently. Indoor and outdoor. Very happy with these, and you can't beat a .45LC for being a fun round to shoot. I stock up on these when they appear, and I'd recommend them to anybody.
Shoots as well in my Uberti 1873 rifle as it does in my .45 pistols
I have shot the last 3 SASS matches with this ammo, and will continue to use it in both pistols and my Uberti '73. Over 400 rounds with great accuracy and no feed or misfire problems even when loading the '73 with 10 rounds. The price of this brand is getting higher, and the availability is not what it used to be. I'll reload the brass I have, while watching and waiting for a sale.
Great CAS rounds
Just getting into Cowboy Action Shooting with my Pietta SA .45. The low recoil surprised me, and I can easily shoot these rounds one handed accurately. Starline brass too, makes reloading a breeze. Love the smoke! After all, I'm shooting a 'smoke wagon.'
"This ammo is Clean burning for the most part and accurate. Does give off some smoke like the old west days bullets. It is very good for target shooting and cowboy action. Recoil is very tame from my New Ruger Vaquero and Colt SAA Peacemaker. I did notice the " shooting star" logo on the bottom of the brass which denotes Starline company brass which is very good for many reloading which I have been using for years. It does take the large primer.
Inexpensive, quality ammo
Most "Cowboy" ammo shoots high from my Colt 5 1/2" SAA at 20 yards, but this ammo groups right on front sight, and averages 1.6" at that distance for five five shot groups off a rest. The much more expensive Winchester 250 grain ammo shoots about 4 inches high and only gives five shot average groups of 2.5" with noticably heavier recoil. I have also had several defective rounds of Winchester ammo, but the American Cowboy ammo has all been very well manufactured. Service from Lucky Gunner was excellent - I'll buy this ammo again.
reliable, accurate ammo, reasonably priced
Ruger Blackhawk, 4 5/8" barrel, Indoor Range, Seems To Give Consistently Tight Groups, Less Expensive Than Other Brands, Used Brass Comes Out A Little Dirtier Than Others, Made in USA
I found this ammo to meet all of my Cowboy Shooting needs.
Today was the first time shooting this ammo, and I used it in a Cowboy shooting match. The ammo was accurate, low recoil, and reliable. I am very pleased with it and will likely purchase it again. I highly recommend for Cowboy Action use.
