This round sends its whopping-heavy 300 grain projectile at a tear-jerking muzzle velocity of 1,820 fps, which means it can easily strike harder than a 243 Win at close range. Its bullet only makes its terminal ballistics more formidable. Instead of expanding, the Dangerous Game Handgun bullet exerts all of its energy toward one simple goal: deep penetration. That ensures it conserves the momentum it needs to travel to where it can do the most damage (and also makes it a very poor choice for defense against threats in populated areas, where over-penetration could prove catastrophic).
The DGH has a couple other tricks up its sleeve: a jacketed base to prevent lead vaporization and fouling, and a cannelure that anchors it at the correct seating depth until it’s its turn at the barrel. All that plus Hornady’s highest-quality brass, primer and powder!
