The Red Mountain team chose an excellent bullet for this 5.56 round: Hornady’s 55 grain V-MAX. It’s usually used for varmint hunting, but its accuracy and terminal performance would decimate a threat to your personal safety as well. The V-MAX has a strong ballistic coefficient courtesy of its sharp polymer tip, streamlined profile, balanced swaged lead core, and Hornady-concentric jacket. The V-MAX’s polymer tip protrudes deep down into the core, stopping just short of touching the base. When the V-MAX makes impact, its tip builds up huge energy before connecting with the core – utterly disrupting it and the surrounding jacket in the process. It’s truly explosive fragmentation, poised to handle coyote and burglars decisively!

Red Mountain selects other fine components to support the V-MAX’s tack driving and explosive performance. This round is brass cased, Boxer primed, and outfitted with carefully measured propellant.
