Wolf Gold ammunition isn’t made in Russia and does not have steel cases. It hails from Taiwan (a country which has every need in the world to produce a lot of ammo), and it has brand new brass cases. That makes this 5.56x45 ammunition more reliable and cleaner shooting than Wolf’s typical steel-cased fare, and thanks to its non-corrosive Boxer primers it is fully reloadable.

But even without steel cases, this AR-15 ammunition is still magnetic! That’s because it is M855 ammo, with 62 grain FMJ bullets that have partial steel cores beneath the tips of their jackets. The “penetrator” bullet’s steel core strengthens it for more reliable passage through sheet metal.

The M855 bullet is heavier than normal at 62 grains. Although this ammo is suitable for all AR-15 rifles chambered for 5.56 and is suitable for plinking and target practice, it will deliver its best accuracy out of a 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel. (A 1:7 barrel is serviceable.)
