Bingo – you found the AR-15 ammo! This 5.56x45 ammo by Prvi Partizan is a great choice for picking off plinking targets, taking things a little more seriously while you’re long-distance shooting, and even defending your home!

On its surface this round’s bullet is a typical 62 grain FMJBT. Its jacket serves solely to support trouble-free feeding in a semi-auto, prevent excessive barrel leading, and keep the bullet undeformed as it’s subjected to powerful chamber pressure. Its boat tail helps to reduce the kind of drag that robs a bullet of its velocity the farther it travels downrange.

The bullet’s green tip shows that it’s an M855; the front section of its core is made of steel instead of lead. This strengthens the bullet considerably, enabling it to penetrate sheet metal at close to medium range while remaining intact. The two components of an M855 bullet’s core can also separate from one another as they bore into soft tissue. This produces two distinct wound channels, which is extremely effective at neutralizing a threat. If fragmentation doesn’t occur, an M855 can still penetrate up to 20” through soft tissue.

Prvi Partizan is based in Serbia. You can see that their new brass cases have been correctly heat treated for added durability, and their Boxer primers are completely non-corrosive.

A couple notes on this round’s bullet. At 62 grains it will deliver the best accuracy out of a 1:8 or 1:9 twist barrel, although a 1:7 twist is serviceable as well. Please also take care that this ammo is magnetic!
