Any shooter with a short-barreled AR-15, SCAR-16s, or other rifle chambered in 5.56mm NATO will love these rounds as a home defense option. As part of Hornady's BLACK line, these cartridges are configured for dependable operation in America's favorite rifles and intended to be an easily recognized source of top-shelf ammo. Each round comprises a reloadable brass casing fitted with a non-corrosive Boxer primer and filled with a specific measure of powder that is intended to provide ample terminal performance when fired from a short-barreled rifle (SBR).

The round profile class for a 75-grain projectile of Hornady's Interlock design. This style of bullet features an exposed soft point, a jacketed body with an aerodynamic shape, an accuracy-saving cannelure, and an Interlock Ring at the inside of the bullet's base. During impact, the bullet's exposed lead tip will begin to flatten out while the toothed cannelure and Interlock Ring work to control the rate of expansion. As a result, the projectile will achieve adequate penetration before coming to halt and delivering its energy to more vital areas. This reduces the risk of over-penetration in domestic areas while furnishing a more immediate stop.
