This round’s bullet is about as heavy as it gets as far as factory-loaded 5.56 is concerned. A 77 grain projectile is 40% heavier than the M193 bullets most Americans are accustomed to firing. As the result this round has a relatively slow muzzle velocity – but its superior momentum dramatically flattens out its long-range trajectory!
Newer shooters often mistake this round’s open tip match projectile for a standard hollow point. But the opening in an OTM’s tip is not there to enable terminal expansion – it allowed the manufacturer to pour the bullet’s core into place within the jacket while it was still molten. That’s why the OTM’s weight is so evenly distributed toward the rear of its jacket. The OTM’s hyper-concentric jacket grants it even better in-flight stability, and its streamlined profile helps the bullet retain even more momentum hundreds of yards downrange.
IMI’s ammo is exclusively brass-cased and non-corrosive. This ammo’s stellar brass and Boxer-style primers make it a great pick for handloaders!
