A polymer-tipped bullet, to be more exact – such as none other than the Hornady Super Shock Tip. This 6.5 PRC round’s 129 grain SST is a real brute: toughened by the InterLock ring and cannelure which lock its core and jacket together in two separate places (thus assuring the deep penetration which follows from high weight retention), as well as a red polymer tip to initiate fast (yet highly controlled, thanks to the SST’s precision-tapered jacket) terminal expansion.
The SST doesn’t aimlessly meander toward its target like some kind of bumble bee that sipped too much lager. It’s extremely aerodynamic and puts an Olympic gymnast’s balance to shame, which is how it manages to achieve 0.485 G1 BC upon popping out of a 24” barrel.
