Why was the preceding sentence worthy of an exclamation point? Because the TMJ is special. Unlike a regular FMJ, which has a jacket that exposes the bottom of its lead core, the TMJ’s core is entirely sealed in by its all-encompassing plated copper jacket. That’s why ignition won’t burn any lead off the TMJ’s bottom, which translates to:
• A cleaner gun range!
• A cleaner action and bore!
• A healthier training environment, too!
The TMJ is not intended for defense. It may have more going for it than an FMJ, but it’s just as incapable of terminal expansion. This round’s 950 fps muzzle velocity out of a 3-3/4” test barrel does give it pretty similar performance to many 95 grain defense loads, though.
Here – we’ll show you. This cartridge’s bullet has a 0.134 G1 BC, which is typical of its weight and dimensions. That means you can expect this kind of close-range performance while you’re practicing your science:
0yds: 950 fps | 190 ft lbs | -0.2”
10yds: 937 fps | 185 ft lbs | 0.1”
20yds: 926 fps | 181 ft lbs | 0.0”
30yds: 914 fps | 176 ft lbs | -0.5”
40yds: 903 fps | 172 ft lbs | -1.4”
50yds: 893 fps | 168 ft lbs | -2.8”
