Decent rounds to save money on the range
Though I had no issues with TULA's 45ACP steel ammo, I think I am more impressed with my Glock 30 that was firing them. That Glock just spits whatever you feed it, every, single, time. Only complaint is this steel cased ammo is dirty. TULA definitely uses the lowest quality gun powder on the market. Expect the GSR to be extra thick and extra dirty.
Functioned Fine/Burns A Tad Dirty
Really I have no complaints, it did what I thought it would do which is fire straight and dirty, my Citadel .45 cycled these just fine and I have no complaints. Probably won't purchase again for me but they are fine for range time and impossible to beat for price!!!
Dirty - Misfired - Don't Buy
While I have had some luck with these rounds, after firing ten rounds yesterday, I noted that the recoil was very inconsistent - the next round fired and the bullet never left the barrel of my Hi-Point carbine. The bullet is lodged in the barrel and if I hadn't of felt the change in recoil, the next round would have most likely resulted in a catastrophic failure & who knows what else. Let the Russians keep these rounds for their own use -as for me, I will dispose of the remaining rounds and try to save a couple of bucks again - just not worth it.
I use this ammo with my S&W M&P45 and my gun loves it! I have never had a malfunction and it cycles really smoothly. It is cheap, so I can afford to shoot a lot on the range and hone my sidearm skills! TRY IT NOW!
Use on indoor ranges is generally restricted.
This is great practice ammo for outdoor range use. However, most indoor ranges won't allow it to be used because of its bimetal (copper & steel) jacket. So far, I've found this to be true on five different indoor ranges. That's my only reason for giving 4 stars on quality. They also won't allow you to use Wolf ammo.
For shooting at the range you can't beat it. The price is right and it goes bang every time. For about two years now this has been my range ammo. You must clean your gun good after every use it will get dirty. All the talk about steel cases is bunk they won't hurt your gun. I am in the business and have done a lot of research on that subject.
As good as range ammo can get
I have used this ammo at the range in both of my S&W M&P 45's, full sized and sub-compact. I have also ran hundreds of these rounds through my Para GI 1911 and Glock 21SF with no,, I repeat no issues. I have herd folks say they are dirty,, well if your a true shooter then 100 rounds will dirty up any weapon, and strip cleaning should be part of every shooter's routine after a day of practice. I have ran thousands of these rounds through multiple weapons and while I did have one or maybe two duds out of many for my money these are still good quality practice rounds... I buy them monthly, and Lucky Gunner cannot be beat..
My review of Tula 230 grain .45 acp ammo, FMJ:
WAs totally impressed. My RIA 1911A1 GI eats this ammo like a junky eats crack No jamming, misfires, catastrophic failure or minor failures. It[s] dirty but as long as you clean your weapon after every firing session, you will have no problems, Buy and use with confidence.
I experienced 4-5 Duds while firing off the full 50 rounds in my Springfield Armory XD 45, I also fired 50 rounds of Magtech on the same day without any incidents. Later on I spoke with someone at the store who felt Tul was a dirty and poor quality ammo to use. He noted I was not the first person to mention problems with this. I will spend a bit more in the future and stay away from this product.
Iv'e had good luck with previous Ammo like this and this lot has been ok also, however a previous lot cost me several hundred dollars. My son was shooting my Blackhawk with the .45 ACP cylinder and experienced a dud (squib) before I could get to him, he fired another shot and I needed a new barrel among other repairs.
No issues, Good price
Used the ammo to test out a new .45 S&W and had no issues. All rounds fired and had clean shell ejections from the gun. Accurate to the target and can't beat the price. Good for the range, but would not use as the standard bullets to keep loaded in my guns as I prefer hollow points for protection. Almost all hand gun ammo is difficult to find here in South Florida and the ammo was received quickly from Lucky Gunner.
Good for fun range plinking, however very dirty
I've shot this stuff through my 1911 for about 5 years now. I must say that it is fun range plinking ammunition. The price you can't beat for a .45 caliber however it is very dirty ammunition so cleaning after each trip is a must. The performance isnt terrible as the bullets will still fly pretty straight. I have had some quality issues on a few boxes that I have purchased. Some of the bullets will not be seated correctly in the casings which if you catch before loading in a magazine then there are no problems. I have had only a handful of failure to eject with this ammunition. With the price and amount of fun you can have you can't really beat that as its usually what you will buy this for.
Well worth the money. Great for practice shooting.
Tula .45 acp is a good value for the money. I had no misfires or failures to eject.
LuckyGunner sent the ammo quickly. They have a good selection with prices that fit your needs.
Good range ammo
Bought 100rds to try out. It worked flawlessly with my brand new Rock Island Armory compact 1911. No failures to feed or eject. Post-range cleaning shows the ammo isn't as dirty as expected.
I will buy a lot more!
And as always, LG is fast in shipping.
good stuff !!
I was knocking an old propane bottle around at 100 yards with this ammo using my sig p220. Up til last week I have not had a chance to shoot for almost 15 years. I did not see any more need to clean than usual. Overall real good stuff and I will be ordering more...
Dirty ammo not for dirty guns
I had bought one box of these and every time I shot one my 1911 would jam up. I went from Remington to Blazer and back to Tula again to see if it was my gun or the ammo and only the Tula would jam up.
It may have been a fluke on my part, but I think I'll avoid buying this.
well i just wanna tell everyone that Lucky Gunner ...really gets the job done !!! also that this ammo Rocks for the price .......ran thru a 50 round box yesterday .....25ft great group and not one Issue rocked and rolled .....and really is fairly clean ....thanx Great Job !!!
Took this ammo to the range and shot it through a Glock 21, a Kimber Grand Raptor II, and a KRISS Vector. I had no problems with ignition or FTFs, and accuracy was on-par with more expensive ball ammo. When I got home and cleaned my guns, they were not any dirtier than usual.
I will definitely purchase this ammo again, once I blow through the ten boxes I ordered.
excellant service and product
I ordered the ammo that my husband target shoots with and it was sent promptly with a tracking #. I then learned from FED EX that it was damaged in shipment and returned to Lucky Gunner. I quickly sent an e-mail to them and they sent another order quickly and the ammo arrived in time for Christmas. That is great customer service!!!
Luck of the draw
When i shot these I had a few rounds FTF. Granted my gun wasnt the cleanest but ive shot other ammo with a dirty gun and no problems. This ammo is a great deal for the price and if you do a lot of high volume shooting then you might wanna try this out at least once. I plan on trying this in my Mosin Nagant and see if the ammo does any better.
Bought this ammo cause it was cheap. Fired three boxes through my glock 21 and had decent accuracy. Good for building familiarity and practice shooting. BE SURE TO CLEAN YOUR GUN ASAP after using this though. Other than that. Good deal...
When prices are so high for ammo these days, you cant beat these. I had no problem at all while shooting. I see other reviews saying there dirty, guess what all ammo will deposit powder if you shoot it. most manufactures recommend you clean your gun after firing it anyway.
Dirty no... Affordable yes!
My experience with my bone stock Para P14-45 is this stuff is no dirtier then most. I have had absolutely no failures of any kind and the accuracy is on the same par with Federal white box or American Eagle after around 1000 rds.
I will continue using this for GP range practice.
I enjoy the process of doin a light clean after all my shooting sessions. That being said, this is the stuff to use during these times when ammo prices are ridiculous and you just gotta get out to the range. Flawless, no malfunctions what so ever through my Springfield RO. At least 200 rounds per session too....
Good product for the price.
Fired 500 rounds through my Glock 36 with only about a dozen FTEs (Failure to eject) and that was only on the last box of ammo. The ammo did seem dirtier than most pricey ammo, but that is something I can deal with. All around I would say this is a good buy for practice ammo, I would NOT trust this as my self defense ammo however.
fired 50 rounds thru my american classic 11. all rounds fed and fired without a hitch. has a funny smell, just different. other reviews i have read claim that is dirty but afterward i field stripped my pistol and it was no more than other ammos i used. I will admit i have seen better prices for these at a local retail store and other mail order vendors
cheap is the best way to describe these
If you dont mind cleaning your gun EVERYTIME you shoot a clip Tul is the way to go. I shot 13 rounds and my gun was covered with dust from these bullets. As far as accuracy they are fine. I was hitting my target at 40 yards without any problem. I was just upset that my brand new gun was covered with powder after shooting just a few rounds.
I bought the ammo in Decator Alabama at a walmart i have never seen it before so i decided to try it. I shot it in my wife bersa .380 WOW!!! it was great i put half of a 50 round box through the gun and it got jammed one time. After the gun was extremly dirty you have to clean you gun very well using this ammo but a bullet is a bullet.
Fired 100 rounds on my XD45. No malfunction, more than usual smoke & flare, and residue left on my fingers after several reloads. BUT for the price, this is a great deal considering you can ping 2x more than a Hornady! I don't mind the cleaning part at all because part of owning a gun is the enjoyment of cleaning it too.
