Excellent buy, won't last
Review by Dennis . (Posted on 9/12/15)
Customer rating:
Bought an AR-15 and sighted it in at 50y with PMC Bronze 223A and then compared it to the LE Tactical TRU. Both rounds in 10 ring on rifle sighting target: groups were 1 1/8" for PMC and 1" using a 1x red dot optic. Moved to 100y: group for PMC was 1 3/8" and for TRU was 1 1/8". Both groups were at about 11 o'clock from center 2.5 to 3" high. I am definitely not the best shot--but I'll stay with the Tactical TRU for my defense load.
I'm buying more, I think these won't last. I mentioned the round to a police captain and his comment was "that's a good round." I like having a defensive round that says "Law Enforcement Ammunition" instead of a Zombie killer.

Good Choice

Customer rating:
I needed a defensive round for my new AR. This "Law Enforcement TRU" meets my home defense needs nicely for a good price. Other law enforcement rounds are hard to find and I would not want to defend myself using a so-called ZOMBIE or VARMINT round. I compared this round to PMC 223A, 55 grain boat tail (I am new to the AR and not the best shot). With a 4-MOA red dot at 50y I got 1 1/8" group with PMC and 1" with this Federal TRU. At 100y I got1 3/8" group with PMC and 1 1/8" with the Federal TRU. This will work for me!

I trust my instincts

Customer rating:
I haven't had a chance to send any of these down range related to where I live. But I am a very patient and discriminating shopper, I like finding good deals and tend to prefer to take a little extra time to secure good value. This is my 1st purchase from Lucky Gunner but I've been coming here for years. These folks, like other sites, have good prices but I also wanted to test the feedback I've read. Well, I can see they have a following for a reason. Great prices, quick shipping and responsive staff. I'll enter the performance once I've tried these, I put in 5 stars because I think it wouldn't accept a blank line. I'm sure they'll be fine but I just wanted to leave some feedback before I forget. You guys are great.

load not the same as it used to be
Review by aaron. (Posted on 7/29/15)
Customer rating:
have not tested ammo yet.
must be said, this is not like older load.
facts:
the ammo i just received, lot# (Q59M171), looks very different from previous version of the load. the previous load being, lot# (349R576), head stamp of (FC06).
1.NEW ammo's,(Q59M171),projectile has its cannelure at the forward most point of the bearing surface. from the cannelure forward to tip has nearly a strait taper to the bullet tip. this shortens the rounds OAL. length drastically from older round. reminds me of the federal black and grey tipped 50 grain load(http://www.luckygunner.com/223-rem-50-gr-polymer-tipped-federal-ae223gtv-20-rounds ).
OAL of new round=2.163(Q59M171)
OAL of old round =2.251(349R576)
2.OLD ammo has a bearing surface of .224 ahead of the cannelure. has a more pronounced ojive to the tip. I believe this to be Nosler's solid base ballistic tip boat tail.
the OLD profile more like M193 and the NEW profile like ae223gtv/mM855. probably done to avoid pressure problems in short leads of 223 chambers.
3. performance on the back of the box has changed. NEW round has lower velocity stated and more drop.
4. in closing, i am not criticizing the the NEW round just stating there are differences that might make change in how the round performs in your chamber. when you make a change like that maybe they should change the model #.the bullet has to jump much farther to the lands than before. was hoping for the round i had previously bought.
