The Elite Hunter showcases not one but two ogives: secant, which curtails wind drift to the greatest degree possible, and tangent to minimize seating depth sensitivity. Remarkably, the Elite Hunter’s Hybrid profile isn’t affected by either of those ogives’ setbacks.
The jacket itself is Berger’s own J4, which is drawn to the same ±0.0003 concentricity standard as a Sierra MatchKing, and allows 2-3” of penetration before yielding to deer-or-elk-shattering terminal expansion. A 15” wound cavity, by Berger’s estimation.
Berger lists the 195 grain Elite Hunter’s G7 BC at 0.387. Look at how flat such a bullet’s trajectory to 300 yards can look!
