Details

Military Ballistics Industries (MBI) specializes in custom ammunition and ordinance products for use by the military, law enforcement agencies, and training facilities in the United States.

This remanufactured (reloaded in a factory) product is brass-cased, boxer-primed, non-corrosive, reloadable, and packaged in 100 round, sealed plasti-packs. It is both economical and precision manufactured by an established American cartridge producer.

The brass for this ammunition will have various headstamps and may be brass or nickel-plated brass.

Remanufactured ammunition has been around for decades. Some of the world’s best shooters use only remanufactured or custom manufactured ammunition to achieve a level of consistency and optimal ballistics performance that cannot be achieved with mass-manufactured ammunition. Remanufactured ammunition is produced by assembling carefully selected components to include specialty bullets, propellants, primers, and previously spent brass cartridge casings. The bullets, propellant, and primers are always newly manufactured while the brass cartridge casings are typically reprocessed to reduce costs or improve consistency.

This MBI product is manufactured using only the highest quality products available to ensure consistent ballistics and firing performance. The propellant is manufactured by Hodgdon, the bullets are manufactured at either the Lake City military manufacturing facilities or by Hornady, and the primers are manufactured by either CCI or Winchester. In addition to using only the best available components, MBI ammunition is assembled using some of the most modern electronic press equipment available. Because exceptional consistency is a major factor in creating accurate ammunition, a production facility that uses finely calibrated electronic press technology is key to ensuring that each shooter is well-pleased with the performance of their ammunition.

Each brass cartridge casing used to produce MBI ammunition is processed by first undergoing a lengthy mechanical cleansing process. Once cleaned, each casing is then re-calibrated by an electronic press to ensure that the final dimensions of each round are within micrometer tolerances. Each casing is then re-primed and re-charged using high-quality primer and propellants. Once the new bullet is seated using a precision-tuned electronic press, each round is hand-inspected to ensure perfection.

This product is not just remanufactured ammunition. It is “precision” remanufactured ammunition for the serious shooter. The fact that it costs less than most new ammunition is simply an added benefit.

Video Transcript:

Military Ballistics Industries makes ammo in the US designed for economical range in training use. Due to a few cost saving measures, MBI ammo is offered at a competitive price point to fit almost any budget. All MBI ammo feature once fired brass or nickel coated brass casings gathered from law enforcement shooting ranges.

This is reloaded ammo, but it's not like what you'd make in your basement. It's all done on high tech automated machines. And other than the used cases, it's very similar to factory new ammo. MBI also uses copper plated bullets rather than the traditional full metal jacket. The copper plating is thinner than a copper jacket but performance is very similar. I shot thousands of rounds plated bullets and not had any problems with reliability or accuracy. But it's not recommended that plated bullets be used with ported barrels since the ports can shear off the copper plating. Plated bullets are also less hazardous for use in indoor ranges since there's no exposed lead anywhere on them.

For this test we shot the 124 grain 9mm MBI ammo. We had no problems with function or reliability in any of our seven test guns. Accuracy was good too and even came out a little better than our MBI 115 grain tests. You may not have heard of Military Ballistics Industries before, but we've gotten a lot of great feedback on the website. So if you've got any doubt, just check out the reviews section.

Linda Driggers ( Sun, 13 Jan 2013 02:11:58 +0000 ) : DT going on again with Lucky F****** Gunnery. This is not Me, although I Agree! Just wish he'd stay off my page!
Linda Driggers ( Sun, 13 Jan 2013 02:13:10 +0000 ) : Maybe he'll get his own page oneday~
Craig Hetzel ( Thu, 09 May 2013 19:15:53 +0000 ) : Better off going with a case of Wolf or Tula at these prices.
Carl Downing ( Sat, 11 May 2013 01:54:51 +0000 ) : All I want to do is shoot my freakin gun man why can't I do that oh yeah can't get no AMMO s***.
Ken Hall ( Tue, 14 May 2013 05:54:14 +0000 ) : $665 for 1000 rounds, what are they smokin'?
Randy McCall ( Mon, 27 May 2013 18:30:54 +0000 ) : I've been watching for these to come available again as I had great experience with my last case. Certainly not at this price though.
Mike Watson ( Thu, 30 May 2013 19:24:24 +0000 ) : What guns did you use in your testing
Heidi At Lucky Gunner ( Thu, 30 May 2013 19:43:37 +0000 ) : Hey Mike, thanks for the question! The firearms used vary based on the testing but I can tell you for the 9mm MBI testing the following were used: CZ-75b, Glock 19, S&W M&P9, Kahr CW9, S&W M&P9C, Walther PPS, and S&W 3914. Please don't be a stranger if you come across any other questions.
Bruce Southworth ( Thu, 01 Aug 2013 20:39:53 +0000 ) : These are reloads?
Heidi At Lucky Gunner ( Fri, 02 Aug 2013 00:17:24 +0000 ) : Hey Bruce, Yep, all of our Military Ballistics Industries (MBI) ammunition is reloaded brass or nickel-plated rounds. Thanks for checking in and please don't hesitate if you have any other questions.
Lewin Edwards ( Fri, 02 Aug 2013 12:50:55 +0000 ) : This ammo is *garbage*. It's not properly sized, I think - anyway, if you take it out to the range, make sure you take a mallet and a cleaning rod with you, and before you start shooting warn the RSOs they'll need to be patient as you clear jams. I held up the firing line several times trying to burn off this ammo - it jams in the chamber, won't go into battery all the way, gun becomes almost impossible to clear without bashing it with a hammer.
Art Manaker ( Thu, 08 Aug 2013 20:53:29 +0000 ) : Managed to finally break in a Sig Sauer P250 2 Sum Modular I purchased last year. I fired 250 rounds of the 9mm MBI and 100 rounds of (New) 9mm Winchester's. Four of the MBI failed to fire and two of the new Winchester's. I am happy with the price and the quality of the 9mm MBI I purchased and would not hesitate to buy again.
Tim Adams ( Wed, 04 Sep 2013 21:28:11 +0000 ) : I have used almost all my first 1000 round case, with no FTF, FTE, or problems at all. my XDM seems to love this stuff.. will be buying more (when the price drops)
Matthew Edward ( Mon, 09 Sep 2013 02:46:20 +0000 ) : I have FTE's all the time, maybe every 7-10th round in my Gen 3 G19. I am trying to hard to get rid of this ammo. I clean my gun thoroughly every time I shoot it and this is the only ammo I have issues with. I have ran 7-8 different kinds through roughly 40-50 rounds each and consistently have issues only with this brand. I have read reviews and for some reason it jams with a Glock way more than any other. I put a few side by side with others and realized these are just a millimeter or so longer than the others. I am assuming that is the issue.
Matthew Edward ( Mon, 09 Sep 2013 02:50:07 +0000 ) : Just read the reviews below. Almost every single person that had a big issue, has a Glock. I think Glock has tight tolerances compared to other american guns and these are just off and too long for Glocks. I will be ordering Blazer and S&B for next time. Still love Lucky gunner regardless.
Keith Tubbs ( Mon, 16 Sep 2013 15:16:36 +0000 ) : Plated bullets and polygonal barrels, any problems?
Karl W Weaver ( Thu, 07 Nov 2013 02:42:55 +0000 ) : I purchased 1500 rounds and have fired over 500 rounds through several different models: sig SP2022, Kimber Custom, a 40 yearold Walther P-38 and a S&W MP. Not a sngle malfunction.
Tom Reynolds ( Tue, 19 Nov 2013 01:30:12 +0000 ) : Yeah, it's not like the ammo I make in my basement. Mine is probably better.
Mark Cain ( Wed, 20 Nov 2013 10:12:44 +0000 ) : 9mm primers are a joke. 50% were FTF. 45ACP have been great so far
Kyler Burton ( Wed, 05 Feb 2014 01:23:41 +0000 ) : Matt Slim Jim Glocks have inherently loose tolerances, my friend. Which supposedly add to their reliability.
Sandy Hoover ( Wed, 19 Feb 2014 23:25:54 +0000 ) : Barry Hoover - I would not purchase another round of this ammo , and I do not know what to with the rounds I have left. One round fired but bullet stuck in barrel. Lucky for me the next round could not chamber in my auto.
Mike Blackburn ( Sat, 01 Mar 2014 17:11:15 +0000 ) : Recently tried the 9mm with no problems in my Ruger or Baretta.
Dustin Barrow ( Sun, 02 Mar 2014 20:36:10 +0000 ) : if its 9mm lmk ill buy it
Phil Dozier ( Tue, 04 Mar 2014 18:51:53 +0000 ) : Lucky Gunner Ammo , I have used this ammo in my Springfield 9mm sub without any problems
Lee Jordan ( Sun, 09 Mar 2014 22:09:48 +0000 ) : very interesting... what make and model of gun were you shooting?
Dustin Barrow ( Sun, 09 Mar 2014 22:14:40 +0000 ) : So I got some today at the range fired great but 1 primer out of 500 fired was bad. Also did you clean your gun was there any issues with your barrel not cleaning it will cause it to mess up I think operator error for these
John Medeiros ( Tue, 01 Apr 2014 21:59:45 +0000 ) : Of the first 12 rounds of MBI 9mm I tried to fire, 10 were duds. To make sure it wasn't my Kaur PM9, I purchased a box of 50 from the range where I was shooting. All 50 went thru with no problems, and so did the previous 200 rounds before I tried the MBI ammo. LuckyGunner authorized the return of the remaining rounds and I'm waiting for store credit. I wouldn't recommend this brand to anybody.
Henry B Kosko ( Tue, 01 Apr 2014 23:13:11 +0000 ) : Thanks for the info.
John Clark ( Tue, 15 Apr 2014 20:21:07 +0000 ) : This is second time a purchase this ammo and it has been fine, one miss fire out of 1200 rounds.
Roy Gum ( Fri, 30 May 2014 15:17:08 +0000 ) : Heidi, are these rounds made in the USA? Just checking to make sure they dont contain steel of any kind.
Mike Smith ( Mon, 02 Jun 2014 07:40:08 +0000 ) : douche bag!!!!
Tom Reynolds ( Mon, 02 Jun 2014 10:43:38 +0000 ) : Mike Sachs Thank you for your thoughtful and useful comment.
Tom Reynolds ( Mon, 02 Jun 2014 19:12:38 +0000 ) : Mike Sachs BTW, why am I a douche bag?
Stan Cook ( Wed, 23 Jul 2014 21:43:18 +0000 ) : I've gone thru 2k of this ammo, no more failures than any other I've shot. Less than 1 percent.
Stan Cook ( Wed, 23 Jul 2014 21:45:31 +0000 ) : As soon as I have any money, I'll buy more, that's how I found your comment. checking on todays prices, future wish list.
Michael DeCarlo ( Thu, 07 Aug 2014 23:35:21 +0000 ) : I have fired 500 rounds of this ammo through my Berreta px4 storm. Only one misfed. None misfired. No duds

Q: yes I was wondering if you make 380 7.625 and 270 reloads didn't see any. Thank you for your time and god bless

Posted On: 10/29/13 By: BUDDY

A: Sorry to report at this point, we don't have any reloads in 380, 7.62, or 270. It's not a bad idea, especially the way the 380 market has been of late --- I know a lot of 380 shooters are hurting for ammo! Thanks for the note and we'll see if we have the ability to get those added to the site in the future.
Q: First time handgun buyer, just want to make sure this would be good for a sig saure 2022 9 mm?

Posted On: 1/9/13 By: Johnny newb

A: This MBI ammo is a great choice for any modern 9mm pistol or carbine, including those manufactured from Sig. Additionally, all components used are non corrosive which are well known in the shooting industry.
Q: How good will it shoot in a Glock?

Posted On: 12/8/12 By: RON CAMPBELL

A: MBIs ammo shoots without issue in any Glock, Springfield or other pistol for that matter. The accuracy and reliability matches that of other popular brands such as Remington, Federal and Winchester. All components used are of high quality from the industry and are non corrosive.

Bought a 1000 round box of 9mm MBI factory reloads. Went to the range and shot a personal firearm and a rental using 60+ rounds. No FTF, misfires, hangfires, or FTE's. Every round went bang and hit where I aimed them. The only weird thing was the bulge around the diameter of the casing where the bullet is reloaded. Didn't affect reliability though. I had at-least 15-20 out of 100 rounds fail to fire, all the primers were hit and did not fire out of my Gen4 G19, perhaps a second hit on the primer would of made the cartridge fire. The plus side is the plastic bags the ammo is in, makes it really good to store and not take up a lot of room in an ammo case (Posted on 8/11/14)

I've shot over 5,000 rounds of the 9mm MBI ammo in various grains and I absolutely love it. It's a great value and perfect for the range and for training purposes. Most of my ammo has been shot through Glocks (G17, 19, and 26) and SIGs (usually P228). I've also shot about 200 through S&Ws (M&P 9 and Shield).

I've noticed my groupings are not quite as tight with this brand when compared with high grade ammo, but the variance is minimal and to be expected since these are reloads. I wouldn't rely on this brand for any competition or qualifying shooting or for simulating perfect competition or qualifying conditions. It wasn't designed for that. But, it is absolutely perfect for drilling fundamentals and throwing a lot of lead down range at an economical price. The variances are minimal and the factory process makes the variances less than what you would experience with home spun or local range reloads. It is comparable with any other economic factory brand and exceeds the performance of most if not all brands in the same price range. I have not found a better value.

I don't usually write reviews, but seeing some of the negative comments in the comment section prompted me to write one. Those who left negative comments appear to have had unrealistic expectations for this ammo. This brand is exactly what the company purports it to be - an economic practice round. I absolutely love this brand and would recommend it to anyone. I've had minimal failures while going through all 5,000 rounds (If I had to estimate, probably 1-2 failures per 1,500 - 2,000). From what I've read from others, if you have a finicky gun, this may not be the brand for you. If you have a workhorse like a Glock or a SIG this is the perfect economical range and training solution. (Posted on 8/11/14)

I shot about 200 rounds through my Kel Tec PF9 and have had good reliability and grouping. I have had about three FTF but not sure if it is the gun, the magazine, my grip or the ammo. The projectiles are consistent in size and shape and the cases although re-sized are generally round and shiny. All have gone bang when I pulled the trigger. More pop that the 115 Gr rounds I have and more felt recoil but I am sure more punch down range. Overall good value; jams easy to clear, carry an extra loaded Mag if you are concealed carry. Much better value than the Russian wolf brand. Went through around 200 rounds the other day. No misfires or f/feeds. Burns nice and very clean. Used on a highpoint c9 and skyy cpx2. The wolf brand is slightly cheaper, but that stuff is dirtiest ammo I ever fired. Well worth spending a few dollars more on the Military Ballistics Industries remanufactured stuff. (Posted on 8/7/14)

Bought 1,000 rounds of this ammo from MBI, shot 200 rounds out of my brand new Gen 4 Glock 17. Had one failure to eject. Next time I took it to the range, I went to shoot, and the primer ignited with no bang, the ignition caused the bullet to get lodged a bit tightly in the barrel. I went to chamber another round because I thought there was simply nothing chambered. Lucky for me, the slide wouldn't close, therefore the gun wouldn't explode in my face from the bullet already in the chamber. I didn't find the bullet until after I had went home from the range. Just be a bit careful with this ammunition if you are going to shoot it (Posted on 7/29/14)

I bought a 1000 round case and have burned through 600 of them, not a single jam of any kind in either my Beretta 92FS or Ruger LC9. A few keyholes with the Ruger when it got hot but the same has occurred with new manufacture ammo, so not the MBI ammos fault. All in all great range ammo and as pretty much the cheapest non bi-metal ammo, excellent value. I will be buying more. Brand new G17, gen-4, first time firing. I bought a couple of more expensive Speer Lawman 50 round boxes, and 2-100 round bags of MBI, same grain ect. I ran all the Speer through with zero failures. Then ran the cheaper MBI, and even with all 200 rounds, not one failure, period. Time to order more. Price is down about 30% since my last order. Going for the 1000 round deal this time. In 900 rounds I've had two serious jams that required vigorous use of a mallet to clear. That's not a high percent of failure, but these were not "hick ups" that could be easily cleared with a tap, rack, and roll. Both occurred in Glocks. The RSO who helped with the last one said that Glocks are notorious for jamming with reloaded ammo, and reminded me that the Glock manual advises against using reloaded ammo. That said, 898 rounds worked flawlessly. I will use up the last 100 rounds in my Kahr. If I were not a Glock-o-phile, I would buy this product again. (Posted on 5/28/14)

I've bought MBI ammo before and I've been pleased. This lot isn't so good. The primers are too hard. Between 15 and 20 percent of the rounds don't fire. About 80 percent of the misfires work fine the second time through the gun. It's a real pain in the neck. (Posted on 3/27/14)

1-5% of each batch of the 2000rds I purchased have jammed in my Springfield XDm. The failed rounds appear to be reloads that expanded. The round gets stuck about 90% of the way into the chamber and requires to screwdriver to wedge the round back out. These rounds are dangerous for the inexperienced shooter and should never be bought as self defense rounds. If you know what your doing then they are not horrible for range ammo. (Posted on 3/5/14)

Purchased a 1000 rounds of this ammo previously and didn't have any issues with it. Purchased another 1000 rounds, only went through one, 100 round bag, and had three FTF's. Verified primer was hit but they didn't fire. I guess out of 1100 rounds this is nothing but out of a 100 round bag it is. I only use these rounds for target practice so it's not that critical. Would not use these for carry. (Posted on 3/4/14)

I've shot at least 5,000 rounds of mbi alone through my g19 and has been great for me but the last batch
(1,000 rounds) flat out sucked. Failure to fire every other one pretty much. Its very annoying trust me. I thought it was my gun at first but it kept on happening even tried running it through a springfield xd, smith and wesson m&p, cz 75, and even a 1911 chambered in 9mm. They must have switched primers... whatever it is they did, mbi messed up. It was a heck of a deal when it was good. Now its not worth gambling with ammo that doesn't work half the time. I will still continue to order from LG, just no more mbi for me. (Posted on 3/4/14)

LG sells excellent ammo, except for the 9mm MBI. Out of my Kimber custom 9mm, there was 1 misfire or hangfire from every 100 rd pack. Numerous stovepipes and FTF issues. Every mag had issues. Easily 20% of the ammo was defective. I keep spreadsheets on grouping, consistancy etc. The ammo that did fire was accurate to 1 half MOA, 1/4 in groupings at 50 yds. Excellent accuracy if you can get it to fire.

I purchased these a couple of months ago. After shooting 200 rounds worth, I can tell you that I had at least 1 misfire per magazine in my Springfield XDM9c and FNS. When pulling back on the slide a little and letting go, the round would seat properly and it did fire every time. The problem seems to be with the feed (possibly oversized casing?).

I've purchased .45 and 9mm from MBI in the past and have never had a single malfunction. I primarily shoot the .45 through a Sig P220 and the 9mm through a Sig P226. I recently bought 1000 rds of this 124gr 9mm expecting good performance at what (now anyway) is a reasonable price. The very fist round out of a random bag failed to fire. After 75 rounds I had 6 FTFs - that's pretty terrible. I will say I have a lightened hammer spring on my P226, but it's never failed to break a primer yet. As I mentioned, MBI's ammo has never failed me before, either, in this pistol or any other. Maybe it was a bad batch? This is usually good quality and very accurate ammunition. Unfortunately I have 925 more of these sitting in my closet... (Posted on 12/30/13)

Do not buy this ammo. Nearly 40% of the ammo failed to fire, although the primer had a great strike on it.

I made Lucky Gunner aware of this issue and they gave me a credit for the 3000 rounds and had the remaining un-fired ammo (about 2500 rounds) picked up for free.

I may have had a bad batch of this ammo, but even for plinking I would never buy this ammo again.

This should not reflect bad on Lucky Gunner, to the contrary they proved to be a great company and we all know moral companies are hard to find in today's world.

I have go through a few bags of the MBI 9mm amo over the past month. No issues with feeding or firing in my Glock 26. I consitently get 1 out of 100 misfires. I am okay with a 1% fallout rate. I shoot in an indoor range and they require TMJ, which these are. However, all of their product is labeled FMJ. I wish they would actually claim the fact that the bullets have a copper coating completely around the bullet, so I would not get questioned everytime I go to the range. (Posted on 11/19/13)

I ordered the 1000 round ammo which arrived in 2 days after my order. I took it to my range and fired about 100 rounds with about a 10% failure rate. A very high failure rate in my opinion. I was shooting a Ruger SR9. Before I wrote off the ammo, I headed home and gave the SR9 a deep cleaning... Headed back to the range the next day and put another 100 round through it...same failure rate. Actually had a shell jam in the chamber and had to have the gunsmith extract it.
Next day I called Luckygunner and told them my experience. Their response was they would have ups come by the next day to pick up the rest of the ammo and gave me a full refund. Although this experience with the ammo wasn't good, LuckGunner gets an A+ in customer service and I will certainly order again from them. (Posted on 9/25/13)

If you are looking to shoot the tightest groups you can, this is definitely not the ammo for you. However, if combat grade accuracy is your thing, this stuff fits the bill nicely.

I'm now over 3k rounds in on this ammo, bought in 1k round increments over the past 2 years. I use it when I attend the occasional uspsa/idpa match as well as personal defense training courses. Yes, I've had a few FTF's, but never an FTE that was not directly related to a weak grip issue on my part. The occasional FTF is good in my eyes during training as it forces you through malfuction drills. When I have had FTF's, I've policed up the live round after that string, put it back in the magazine and it lit off on the second strike. Also, regarding the FTF's, I've only had maybe 5-8 FTF incidents with this ammo over the 3k+ rounds. Not a deal breaker by any means and definitely not the 3% failure rate someone else noted from their first 100 rds.

Don't go into a gunfight with this stuff in your gun, but definitely use it to practice for the potential fight you may find yourself in down the road. (Posted on 8/2/13)

I only bought 100 rounds of this MBI 124gr summer of last 2012. Never had factory reloads before but thought I'd give it a shot. With in that 100 rounds I had 3 FTF, 2 of which I know for a fact were bad primers. So at a 3% failure rate, i don't think it's horrible but anymore isn't really doable for me. With that said, would I buy this ammo again? Sure, but only if there isn't any Tulammo or Wolf in stock at about the same price. (Posted on 6/25/13)

Bought 1000 rounds for use at the range. Have shot 300 rounds without a jam or misfire. Any issues of accuracy are my problems not the ammo. At 10 yards all yesterdays 75 shots were within 6 inches with at least 20 within 4 inches. The variance in accuracy has more to do with my not being able to see both the target and the sights clearly so I use reading glasses to see the sights but the target is really blurry. Happy with LuckyGunner's service. (Posted on 6/20/13)
Love Lucky Gunner but hate MBI ammo Review by Nick in Houston

First of all, I love Luckygunner.com. I have purchased close to 6,000 - 7,000 rounds of various 9mm ammo from them since February 2013 and everything has been great except for the 1,000 rounds of MBI reloads I purchased from them.

The MBI 124gr reloads were horrible in my Glock 19. I could only get through 25 rounds before giving up completely in which I had over 15 FTE. The gun slide would completely lock up (unable to rack) and I had to get the range master to help and we had to use a screw driver to pry the rack open to get the empty case out.

I was lucky that I grabbed 2 boxes of my regular ammo at the last second and threw it into my range bag before I left the house.

Make sure you bring other ammo just in case you have the same issue so that your day is not a total loss! (Posted on 6/20/13)

Ordered 1,000 round of this ammo.

Never shot this ammo before so tried in my Glock 17 .

I had 2 case failures within 2 clips from start of use .

Never used reloads in my Glock before so not sure it if is the Glock or the Ammo

But...felt like I lost a finger both times...

Will try in my Ruger and see if I have the same problem...with gloves on this time.

Purchased 1000 rounds. Have shot about 300 rds. of it through my Glock 34. Had one misfire or hard primer. Not sure on the correct terminology. Anyway, I rechambered the round and it fired off the 2nd time. This Glock is maintained and slide is disassembled and cleaned regularly to include the firing pin or striker. Have shot several thousand rounds through this gun and this is the only malfunction I have experienced. (Posted on 3/1/13)

I recently purchased this ammo for the range to use in my glock 26 gen 3. I've gone through about 400 rounds without a problem. Feeds well, shoots well and it's a good price. i'm still new to shooting but i do notice a difference in the recoil between this and the standard 115 grain ammo that most ranges sell. i have also noticed that it seems to be a little more accurate at longer distances and it is a lot cleaner. typically after shooting 200 rounds (average range day) i notice less cleaning is required with this ammo than other range ammo options. Also Luckygunner had great service, it arrived within 2 days on my doorstep!! (Posted on 2/25/13)

I have purchased over 3000 rounds, of 9mm, in the last 30 days alone. Unfortunately, one of those 1000rd blocks was MBI. I have had only great experience with LuckyGunner, and its products, until that purchase. Granted, the MBI ammo was out of its packaging upon delivery. Who cares? The fact that I shot about 100 rounds, upon receipt, and couldn't make it through one cycle without a ftf or fte occurring......that I do care about. What a waste of $400. I've got approx 900 rds of crap ammo bagged in my closet. Should have given my money to charity as opposed to buying these worthless "reloads" from MBI. For those who like to practice handling failure-to-feed and failure-to-eject's, this is your ammo. You'll get plenty of practice doing that. (Posted on 2/4/13)

I ordered 1000 9m, all 10 bags were broken open so I had a box of loose rounds. Brass was banged up pretty bad, not what you would expect from "Once fired" ammo. I had numerous rounds jam my magazine, upon inspection I had 51 out of the first 300 rounds oversized, too long. Probably not pressed enough. Shot 100 rounds in a brand new Ruger P95 in an NRA class. 5 FTF and a SQUIB fire!..out of 100. Not impressed, I guess you get what you pay for. Never again, now I'm stuck with 900 rounds of this stuff. This all might be attributed to rushing orders during this time of high demand, quality has taken a hit at MBI. (Posted on 1/29/13)

I find this ammo to be great for range practice, which is all I ever intend to use this ammo for. I'm a first time gun owner learning the ropes with intentions for self defense and CCW. I will be purchasing self defense ammo for "moments of necessity". I've put 300 of my 1000 rounds through my new Glock 26 Gen3; had 1 failure to feed after the very first round. I would likely own this up to either the gun due to being new and stiff, or the way I had loaded the magazine. All other rounds have performed flawlessly and no duds yet. I plan to continue buying this for as long as it stays economical and reliable. Lucky Gunner seems to be one of the best e-stores out there. (Posted on 12/17/12)

I purchased 5 or 6k rounds and shared with my friends. Service has always Number 1, the best. The product I buy, I figure I get what I pay for, but I have never been disappointed by luckygunner, no matter what i chose to purchase. The only problem I have had was with the 100 round plastic bags splitting open. I actually had one thousand round box delivered empty. The box was split on 2 edges, and I am sure a thousand rounds of 9mm ammo is still rolling around inside a ups vans some where. But one call fixed me up. Certainly the cheapest and reliable ammo. I put over 9000 rounds in my P229 and I only got a handful of rounds not firing and a few rounds that failed to eject (and there, one could argue my gun was not as cleaned as it should have been!). Love the ammo, the plastic bag the ammo comes in is not always sealed and you should be careful picking up the bags out of the box. For that reason I would suggest storing this ammo in a sealed military can ... just in case. (Posted on 11/26/12)

I bought 1,000 rounds for my wife's 3-day training class. She ran 800+ rounds through her XDm-9c with no hiccups. Several of the plastic bags, each holding 100 rounds, were split open in the shipping box. Other than that, and I understand that this issue is being addressed, we had no issues with this ammunition. I fired 100 rounds through my XD-9 with no problems. Seems accurate and fairly clean. I would not hesitate to purchase this product again. As always, service from Lucky Gunner is A+. If they had advertised that this will be puured into a box with all the bags broken it would not have been so bad.

Having ammo sit loose in a cardboard box in the rain is not a good sign. If the ammo was sealed in bags like it was advertised this would not be a problem.

I am hopeful that the ammo is still safe to use. I am forced to do some research into the safety of shooting ammo that may or may not function properly.

I am hopeful that Military Ballistics Industries was just having a bad day. All previous purchases have been great until now.

I wish you the best of luck if you decide to purchase this ammo. You have been warned. (Posted on 11/14/12)

I purchased 500 rounds of this ammo and now have 400 rounds to decide what to do with them. Fired through another brand (appx 50 rounds) before firing this product on the range (Using a Sig P226). I never had any issues with any other ammo with ejections or firing. In the first 100 I used of this I had 4 issues of feeder/ejection stoppages. One instance the round actually jammed my slide with a live round partially chambered. I also purchased 400 for my .40cal (xdm40). Had 2 feeder/ejection issues and one bad fire round. I had to stop and clear the barrel after that.
As I stated previously, I still have 400 rounds, maybe I'll give them another try, but certainly will not purchase them again. (Posted on 11/10/12)

I've ran my first batch of 1,000 rounds through my XD-9 and M&P without a much issue. I had about 5 FTE out of the entire bunch, but no firing problems. I subsequently placed another order (why wouldn't I!) and have since put about 300 rounds more through the XD-9 and a Beretta Nano. This stuff shoots better than 115 grain winchester white box and is cleaner as well. Overall this is really good stuff and helluva deal. (Posted on 9/25/12)

No FTEs/FTLs. Ammo was of high quality and accuracy. However, my problem was with the shipping box used. Because the MBI ammo was packaged in plastic bags of 100 rounds instead of boxes, many of the cartridges spilled out during shipping. Fortunately none of them actually leaked out of the shipping box, but I felt better shipping and handling practices could have been used (Similar to the review of MiShooterChic). Long story short: the ammo was of great, consistent quality; the packaging and shipping & handling could have been better. (Posted on 9/25/12)

Have run about 500 of the 1000 rounds through my gun without any jams or issues. Shipper tried to use too small of box and shorted me many rounds as well as dumping ammo loose in the box to try and make it fit. After I filed a complaint, Lucky Gunner was quick to respond with replacements for the shorted product. (Posted on 9/24/12)

My Own Test Results Review by Cliff
Performance
Value

First, I was very surprised at how quickly my order arrived. Stunned actually.

Second, I wasn’t expecting much from the product because it was so cheap. But the MBI reloads I’ve shot so far have been relatively clean, and with low flash in the dim light stages at IDPA. I became curious to see how this would stack up to the more expense choices I had been using so I did some comparisons in my Walther PPQ 9mm:

Atlanta Arms (#I9147) 147 GR FMJ, MV= 880 fps:
While this reloaded subsonic ammo has a softer “push back” recoil, making follow up shots faster, the advantage is offset by the fact that the slower moving bullet exits the muzzle at a later point in time during muzzle rise – resulting in groups consistently 3 inches high of point of aim at about 7 yards. This ammo also has low flash, but is more dirty to shoot.

Federal Range & Target 115 GR FMJ, MV=1180 fps:
The higher velocity in a lighter bullet resulted in better accuracy for me because the bullet clears the end of the muzzle sooner, but the more pronounced muzzle flip requires more time between follow up shots to get sights back on target. While it does not seem especially dirty, the muzzle flash was noticeably brighter during low light shooting, causing a little “flash bulb” dizziness.

MBI 124 GR FMJ, MV=1120 fps, from LuckyGunner:
The felt recoil of this load is slightly softer than the Federal, cleaner and more accurate than the Atlanta Arms, and with only a moderate flash in low light. Very consistent and a good choice for competition.

If all three were priced the same, I would lean toward the MBI. But with a savings of almost $33 a case over the Federal, and over $78.02 per case over the Atlanta Arms, this decision is a slam dunk. I will be ordering more soon, and LuckyGunner.com will be the first website I check from now on.

For the price, this ammo is an EXCELLENT buy. It shot clean, but I did have a few fte's which worked to my advantage during a training evolution. I will say I was not sure about MBI products, a Range buddy of mine talked me into splitting a 1000 rounds. I shot a Sig P250 which tends to like hot ammo, I had no misfires or jams after shooting 300 rounds of it I was sold on its performance and this ammo burns clean, better then any other range ammo i have used. I now compare my range ammo to MBI, and prefer to shoot nothing else for practice. I have fired over 5000 rounds of this ammo now and love it and LuckyGunner's service. Thank you LUCKYGUNNER! This has fed without issue in 1911s, XD, Kimber, Kahr. No issues. I like finding the occasional nickel plated ones. I keep those out for use in my carry when I practice with it. Some brass you can tell is a bit old, but inspection of each round indicates very good handling. Minor blemishes and who cares long as it goes bang and at the right pressures. No light or heavy loads. All within specs. The accuracy was first rate. I'll definitely get more for range time. Love the logo. (Posted on 5/30/12)

I've shot a couple thousand rounds of the MBI 124gr. FMJ 9mm... and had one stovepipe in my SR9, a couple thousand of the MBI 115 gr FMJ 9mm with four or five FTF's in my Kel Tec 9mm (all my other 9mm's ate it just fine, but the KT PF9 was brand new)... and about 750 rnds of a 1000 box of MBI 230 gr .45ACP and had three stovepipes, and two FTF's (but it's a brand new SR1911 as well).

The "issues" I've had are not what I would consider "ammo" based. MBI cleans the brass extremely well, and the loads seem to be very consistent. Equal to "factory" ammo, as far as I am concerned. Paying less for the same quality is a plus in my book. (Posted on 5/27/12)

I'm ordering this for the third time now. I've used all 2000 rounds purchased previously in my SR9C and have had precisely zero problems. During that same time I've shot about 1500 rounds of Remington UMC and WWB, each giving me 1-2 rounds out of every 500 that don't have enough charge to cycle properly (failure to eject, usually) or so low the bullet flies way low. So this reloaded MBI stuff is actually shooting better than the stuff I get new off the shelf at Wally World!

They are also cleaner than the UMC stuff (which has been pretty dirty lately) and about on par with WWB as far as smoke, sparks and powder residue goes. That means even after 500 rounds in a day I can still get my gun clean in about 20 minutes. (Posted on 11/22/11)

I have shot several thousand of these and have yet to have a single failure of any type. My only complaint is that there are a few non-brass casings in every batch. They are less than 5%, and all of the casings look to be in good condition, but if you only want brass in your gun you will need to cull those. For $0.21 per round, I would expect only brass, and that's why I didnt award 5 starts for quality and value. (Posted on 8/30/11)

I purchased 1000 rounds in 9mm for M&P. I have shot 600 rounds without a single failure of any kind. I am pleased with this ammo's accuracy and the loads have been consistent. (Posted on 1/10/11)

I have fired well over 1,000 rounds of this ammo in my Browning Hi Power and Springfield EMP. Zero problems in feeding, extracting, ejecting, or accuracy. (Posted on 12/22/10)
Fired about 500 rounds so far through my CZ 75 without issue. Just as accurate as big name brands, and shoots much cleaner than tula/wolf. Definitely buying more. Review by Zack

MBI only sells reloaded ammo, so if you have issues with reloads, this company probably isn't for you. That being said, I have fired more than 500 rounds of the stuff and I haven't had a single mishap (bad ejections, misfires, etc.). The only negative thing I can think of with the ammo is that some of the rounds seems a little inconsistent in the load. A few of the rounds I fired seemed week, but they still shot just fine and the shell left the chamber so it didn't really bother me to much.

The first time I took the ammo to the range I fired 300 rounds, and although it was obvious that 300 rounds had gone through the gun, it was nowhere near as bad as the Russian stuff. Clean your gun when you get home and you will be fine.

All in all, a great buy. Keep up the good work Lucky Gunner! (Posted on 12/15/10)

I purchesed 1K rounds and fired the first 100 in a new Ruger SR9c and they did not miss a beat. T his ammo is also very clean for the price. My wife is the shooter and she is able to hit a body targetr dead center with most of the shots at 25 Feet. I have also used the 38 cal and 223 from MBI and have been very happy with the results. This was my first purchase from LG and it was a good experience. To date I have fired 400 rounds +/- with only 2 ftf rounds. There was some staining on a lot of rounds, none which were suspect. I always check my ammo 100% on reloads.
No loading issues on any of my sigs 226, 229 239.
Ammo performance was as consistant as I was.
Overall a good value / cost performer. (Posted on 11/27/10)

This was my second purchase from LG and I am impressed with the service, shipping and quality of the product. Of my two purchases of 2000 rounds of different calibers with these prices and close to 800 rounds down range without any issues makes me glad I found this place to buy ammo from. Other places I was purchasing from usually only had a few boxes on the shelf and they were intermittent with restocking so I had to go to different places to spend some quality time at the range for any length of time. I will definitely be ordering again. (Posted on 10/17/10)

This is an awesome deal. $195 for 1,000 rounds of high quality 9mm FMJ ammo. I have shot about 500 rounds through my Sig Sauer P250 and my Kel-Tec P11. All so far have gone through both without FTF or FTE problems. I hit the targets dead on most of the time from 15-20 yards. Excellent deal. (Posted on 8/15/10)

I've gone through 300 out of the 1000 so far, and have only come across one bad round while I was loading. The case was dented badly, so I tossed it back in the range bag. For the price, one bad round out of 300 is acceptable to me. (Posted on 6/17/10)
