compare this to your big top 10 brands of 9mm JHP and what do you get, half the price and works just about as good or better, yes i said better. while you do not get the same size opening of the HST but you do get a good mushroom none the less, also the reliability is excellent compared to your big name HP's, this stuff feeds like ball ammo while some other HP's do not feed well in some handguns. so for much cheaper than big name brands and feeds like ball ammo and expands every time, this is why as good if not better when you take all those points into consideration. nothing wrong with big name brand ammo just some handguns are ammo picky and wont feed that $1 or more per shot round whereas they will probably feed these. at the price point you can practice with these and wont break the bank like most big name ammo are to dang expensive to go practice 100 or more shots per outing or even have a stash of, just to expensive. i love them and thats just me, shoot several loads thru your handgun and see what it likes and doesnt like, and go from there, then its all about how much you want to spend on practice ammo and go to war ammo!

I purchased a couple bricks of the earlier version of the Aguila Pistol Match Competition .22 LR with the Eley prime a few years ago for shooting in my Hämmerli 150 Free Pistol. Excellent for that use, it is quite consistent in regards to velocity, lack of "flyers," and overall accuracy. Any and all shots outside of the 9-ring on the 50m target are my fault, not the pistol or the ammo.
The reason I knocked it a bit in the rating is that when I shoot it in my Unique DES 69 semi-auto target pistol, it is a rare 10-shot string that transpires without a malfunction. I can put boxes of Federal Gold Medal, CCI Target, or Eley Club through it without a single hiccup.
So, bottom line for me: great in a Free Pistol, not so much when fed from a mag. Your results may vary ...

I was unfamiliar with the brand when I picked up a box of Aguila 117 gr JHP on sale from a LGS. I figured, "What the heck, I can give a try." It sat on the back of the shelf for a long time while I shot other stuff. I saw it the other day and decided to shoot later at the range.
I was very surprised by how well it ran in my Kahr CM9, which can be ammo sensitive. Not only did it run well but it was easily the most accurate ammo for me in that pistol. Normally I shoot Federal 124gr HST or occasional Golden Sabre 124gr for defense loads but the my group was much tighter using the Aguila.
I will agree with the above reviews that occasionally sparks would fly out the end but that did not bother me.
My only problem now is trying to find some more of this. I cannot seem to find it for sale anywhere.
