Customer Reviews - Aguila Ammunition

Aguila ammunition receives generally positive feedback for its affordability and reliability, especially for target shooting and plinking. Many users report good feeding and cycling in both rifles and handguns, with some highlighting its effectiveness in older or unique firearms. Accuracy is widely praised, with several noting tight groups and suitability for both casual and competition use. Value for money is a frequent strong point. Criticism appears around occasional misfires, duds, and feeding or ejection problems, particularly in semi-automatic firearms; some users also describe excess residue or dirtiness requiring more frequent cleaning. Certain specialized loads are noted as being quiet and well-suited for backyard or close-range use, though not all cycle semi-autos reliably. Overall, Aguila offers dependable performance at a good price, though some consistency and cleanliness issues may be encountered.

There is one big problem with the .22 Aguilar interceptor .... once you use it you will not want to go back to what you were using before. These rounds are hot hot hot. I had to adjust my optic a few clicks down to hit the same bullseye i was hitting with slower rounds. At 100 yds it only took a few 10 rnd magazines to cut the end out of an 8" cinder bock. I just ordered another 1000 rnds.

Many years ago I discovered this type ammo. I had a single- shot bolt- action rifle 26" barrel. All there was: "click, and thump". No "bang," no audible report to speak off. It is not as quiet in a handgun. I have found it will fire fine in my rifles. It will not cycle in autos. You may load it by hand in autos but it is a pain to do so and some of the energy is lost in the recycle discharge. It is effective ammo for a limited purpose - local, small varmints, within 100ft. As a single shot, it is wonderful in the rifles I have used, lately, a Marlin w/22 inch barrel. Penetration is about 1/2 inch in plywood. I am not set up for ballistics testing. Unfortunately, by the time I add shipping it is still about 20 cents a round. I was glad to find a supply of this ammunition. Thanks Lucky Gunner.

As with all Aguila ammo this comes clean and well packaged. Less well known is this is THE hottest commercial round for the .22LR. The CCI Stinger is closer to Aguila's Super Max 30 gr load...but still less potent. THIS round is a full 40gr slug moving 200 fps faster than anyone else's loading. Terminal effect is impressive to say the least...no you won't want to use this on small game unless you make headshots since it tends to vaporize small craniums, but you will LOVE this for a personal defense load out of pistol or rifle...especially from a rifle!
Aguila is making some of the best, and greatest variety ammo on the market today.

This Aguila .223 ammo was used in my new M&P15. worked great. seems to burn clean. Would use it again. The best part of the whole deal is that Luckygunner had the ammo it advertised, shipped it quickly, and sold it at a cost I could afford. Will order again from this company.

FAQ

What is the Aguila Minishell?
The Aguila Minishell is a 1-3/4 inch 12-gauge shotgun shell, roughly half the length of a standard 2-3/4 inch shell. This compact design allows nearly double capacity in pump-action tube magazines (with an adapter) and produces significantly less recoil, making it popular for home defense and recreational shooting.
Is Aguila ammunition reliable?
Aguila has built a strong reputation for reliability, particularly in their rimfire lines. Their .22 LR ammunition is widely used in competition and training. While some early production runs had quality control variations, modern Aguila ammo is consistently manufactured to SAAMI specifications.
Where is Aguila ammunition made?
All Aguila ammunition is manufactured at their facility in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. The plant has been in operation since 1961 and is one of the largest ammunition manufacturing facilities in Latin America.
